Linen Tape

I recently went on a shopping spree on the Shinja Katoh website and bought a whole lot of Linen Tape:

I figure I might think of something to do with it - it's adorable. My wedding invitation designer suggested using them on the escort cards - which is something I considered ...but we hadn't even thought of what we were going to use for escort cards.

1) bottles for bubble blowing liquid
2) some candy or cookies?
3) .. other?

I still have 5 months, so I think we'll figure it out... i think.

DIY project even I can tackle!

So we went over to our invitation designer's home and picked up our STDs. It's so nice to be able to go over to her house and chat over these things, it makes it feel like we're really getting to know each other and less like a business transaction.

We got home and immediately we went to work buying a few supplies at paper source and blick: paper, envelope liner templates, exacto knife, self healing mat, and some double stick glue.. tape... thing. it's nifty. I found the people at our local paper source to be... really pretentious and unpleasant. They had a very bad attitude and made me feel like I was wasting their time for not being nearly as craft-knowledgable to them. I went to art school, so having people talk down to me about glue is really off-putting, so we got only what we needed at paper-source and went to blick for the rest.

Anyway, we sat down and go to work:

Dorky space invader paper for our game-industry pals, and two other kinds for friends and family... the brown for the less pink-appreciative. It was quick, painless, and really something nice that we did together.

Mr. Gummi Bear and I made two versions, since it was cheap to do - a family version and a friend version. This is the latter:

On a sadder note, while we were on vacation in Japan earlier this year, my pet rabbit that had been with me since high school passed away... traumatizing our neighbor who was watching him for us. He was very very old, so I'm not depressed - I'm just glad he lived as long as he did and looked as cute through the whole thing. In honor of our little boy, we wanted to have stamps of him made for the envelopes. This photo was taking a few months before he left us, and he still looked like a baby bunny.

Zazzle.com was having a sale, so we went with them. They have a smaller stamp size as well, which I like, since I didn't want to overwhelm the envelope with a gigantic picture of my rabbit. They were higher quality than I expected - thick and nice. We had talked about having our rabbit be a part of the wedding, but he didn't make it, so instead at least he's plastered on all the enveloped in a slightly morbid but cutely commemorative way!
